Day 1

Start the tour in the “town on three bridges” – Virpazar, a charming fishing village dating back to the 13th Century located in the picturesque setting of Lake Skadar. Head to the bohemian Bar Old Town, famous for its olive production, nestled on a hill away from the sea. Visit King Nikola’s summer residence by the Bar waterfront, before heading inland to the family-owned winery serving homemade reserves from central Montenegro. The winery is unique for its storage of wine in amphorae, a characteristic vessel in this part of the Mediterranean for storing oils, wines and even secret treasure! 

 

For more adventurous Nomads, we suggest a guided ATV drive or boat cruise around the Lake.

Day 2

 

Podgorica  Ostrog Monastery  Niksic – Zabljak

 

Enter the region of Montenegrin wild beauty – where luscious green forests and panoramic landscapes are coupled with traditional, organic food fresh from the northern region. 

 

Following a hearty breakfast, head north to the Ostrog Monastery, a spiritual Orthodox pilgrimage site and mind-blowing 17th Century church built directly into the vertical cliff face – our Nomaguides can de-brief you on the enchanting history of this chalk-white wonder.

 

A quick coffee break with splendid views of the Bjeloplavlic plain is followed by a trip to the quirky town of Niksic, where you will pay a visit to a craft shop to learn of the local woodwork trade and have a go at making your own authentic souvenir. 

 

Niksic packs a great punch for lunch options – once suitably satisfied, we make our way to Zabljak to breathe in the fresh mountain air. 

Day 3


This day offers a number of weather-dependent options:

Experience the best that north Montenegro has to offer. If you are an outdoor enthusiast, prepare to get wet and wild on an exhilarating rafting session on the Tara River or ‘get lost’ in the burrowed passages of Canyon Nevidio.

Calm the adrenalin rush with a visit to a traditional family-run Katun to enjoy local gastronomy and homegrown produce and re-fuel after an adventurous morning. 

Day 4

 

Podgorica – Boka Bay cruise

 

Park the adventure van and jump on board a boat to experience the Bay and beyond – head to the famous Blue Cave, a turquoise lagoon reflecting all shades of blue from the glimmering waters. Combine legends with the historical depth of the island of Our Lady of the Rocks, most famous for the legend of Penelope of Montenegro. 

 

If the sights from the sea are not enough, adventurous Nomads can take a panoramic helicopter flight over the Bay.

Day 5

 

Boka Bay – Speedboat transfer to Kotor – Kotor city tour – Njegusi – Lipa Cave

 

Once again, explore the Boka Bay from the sea. Stroll through the coastal town of Kotor, with unique Venetian architecture, well-preserved, crisscrossed avenues and stone cobbled squares, churches and palaces. Ascend the Serpentine road to the little village of Njegusi and enjoy a panorama of the Boka Bay. 

 

Snack on traditional delicacies of prosciutto, cheese and priganice (homemade doughnuts), washed down with a local digestif, rakija. Continue to the Old Royal Capital of Cetinje to admire the essence of Montenegrin culture, before heading north to the Lipa Cave, a spectacular underground display of calcified mineral formations.

Bar

Bar is a modern city, located on the Montenegrin coast, known for its beautiful climate and nature, olive groves and historical monuments.

Biograd Lake

Explore the Biograd lake, which found its eternal home surrounded by one of the last European primeval rainforests.


Boka Bay criuse

Take a cruise through the southernmost fjord in Europe, known as Boka Bay, with glimmering waters and impressive mountain massifs.

Cetinje

The Old Royal Capital of Cetinje is the essence of Montenegrin culture, where a picturesque setting coexists alongside museums boasting the history and art.

Djurdjevica tara bridge

Appreciate the sights of the monumental Djurdjevica Tara Bridge, standing tall and proud over the UNESCO World Heritage site of Durmitor.

Lipa Cave

Explore the Heart of Montenegro, the Lipa Cave, a spectacular underground display of calcified mineral formations. 


Moraca Monastery

Emerging from the Moraca river canyon is Moraca Monastery, one of MontenegroТs most significant spiritual sites. 


Niksic Craftshop

Visit a craft shop to learn of the local woodwork trade and have a go at making your own authentic souvenir.



Njegusi
